In today’s message(2/8/26), we talked about the path to being in the right place for God to grow us in the gifts He has given us. We also took a broad look at spiritual gifts through several key passages of Scripture (1 Corinthians 12:8–10, 28; 1 Peter 4:11; Ephesians 4:11; Romans 12:6–8).

The attached spiritual gifts survey and brief explanation are from LifeWay publications. There are other sources for this, but I have found this to be a helpful resource for beginning to discover gifting. Click here to take the survey on Spiritual Gifts. To help you better understand your findings, you can Click Here to read a short explanation of the various gifts. As you complete the survey, answer honestly without overthinking it. This tool is meant to help with discernment, not to provide a final or definitive answer.

After taking the survey, complete the follow-up material and read through the descriptions of your top gifts.

Remember, identifying your gifting is only the beginning, and it may take time to understand how God wants you to use it. Maturing in gifting takes time, faithfulness, and intentional effort, and you don’t need an official position to walk in your gifting or for God to give you opportunities to minister. Begin by studying what Scripture says about your gifts and asking the Holy Spirit to guide you in how to apply them.

As you do, look for simple, practical ways to begin. If your gift is service, find opportunities to serve. If it is evangelism, pray for opportunities to share your faith. Perhaps teaching is your gift. I think some of the most important teaching that happens in the church is not in front of people, but in rightly applied truth in conversation with friends, family, and acquaintances. You never know how God will use you, but leave that up to him and be faithful with the opportunities he brings. If you know a more mature Christian who is gifted in the same area, take time to ask questions and learn from them with humility.

1 Corinthians 12:7  To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

1 Corinthians 14:12   So with yourselves, since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, strive to excel in building up the church.
